My Dream Machine, the Modular Hammond B3

Carlo de Wijs, a dynamic pioneer in the field of musical innovation, combines his extensive experience as an artist, educator, and researcher with the fresh perspective of a startup. He explores the fascinating interface between analog technology, such as the iconic 1955 B3 Hammond organ, and the latest digital developments.

With his completely unique personalized instrument, the Modular Hammond, Carlo breaks the boundaries of traditional music and creates innovative sounds and applications. This instrument symbolizes his ongoing quest for innovation and his openness to technological advancement. In 2022, he earned his doctorate on the (micro)dynamics of musical innovation, which supports his practical research.

The story of Carlo's entrepreneurial spirit, passion for innovation, and perseverance has been inspiringly captured by the talented young filmmaker and actor from Dordrecht, Bas Keizer. They met during D’Sound, a program that Carlo developed with Kunstmin for the Energiehuis between 2019 and 2023.

This documentary not only highlights the concept of the "Dream Machine," but also the deep personal commitment and creative vision that drive Carlo on his artistic journey. The story inspires us to chase dreams and develop a mindset to push boundaries.
