The Creative Explorer

Carlo de Wijs is a trailblazer proudly introducing his Dream Machine: a revolutionary modular Hammond organ that merges the classic sound of the analog B3 Hammond organ with boundless contemporary technology.

As a musician, composer, producer, and educator, Carlo has embarked on an impressive journey that earned him a doctorate from Erasmus University in 2022, with a dissertation on the microdynamics of musical innovation. His path as an innovator and concept developer, aptly described as a creative explorer, reflects a continual quest for innovation and deepening, driven by insatiable curiosity and the courage to keep dreaming.

The Dream Machine is the pinnacle of Carlo’s creative journey, an instrument that creates innovative sound concepts ready to take on the world. Carlo's latest project, Sonic Dimension, is a venture with hybrid drummer Jordi Geuens and visual artist Job van Nuenen. The project explores the interfaces between (live) music, visual art, and technology, building on the foundations laid by the New Hammond Sound Project (NHSP) since 2016.

With the launch of Sonic Dimension Records, Carlo’s artistic expressions find a home. The label releases not just music and visuals but also sounds, publications, lectures, and masterclasses. A documentary about the Dream Machine and the debut album of Sonic Dimension in both stereo and Dolby Atmos sound mark the beginning of Sonic Dimension Records.

Carlo’s versatile career spans live performances, studio work, composing, producing, and developing concepts where art, technology, and community building are central. His twenty years of experience in arts education, as an artistic manager, developer, and teacher, enrich his masterclasses, lectures, and training sessions. In collaboration with creativity coach Rody Vonk, he offers insights that inspire both individual creatives and teams to innovate their environments.

Rhoda Scott, the legendary American Hammond icon, puts it succinctly: Carlo has both preserved and transformed the tradition of the Hammond organ. With his Modular Hammond, he brings emotion, innovation, and energy to his music, opening new possibilities for both young and experienced keyboard musicians.
