Trailblazer Carlo de Wijs proudly introduces his Dream Machine: an innovative modular instrument that redefines the authentic analog Hammond B3 in both sound and controllers — a true fusion of art and technology.
As a musician, composer, producer, and educational developer, Carlo has embarked on an impressive journey, earning a doctorate from Erasmus University in 2022 with his dissertation on ‘The Microdynamics of Musical Innovation’.
His distinctive path as a concept developer and innovator, best described as a creative explorer, reflects a continuous quest for renewal and depth, driven by insatiable curiosity and the courage to keep dreaming.
The Dream Machine represents the pinnacle of Carlo's creative journey — an instrument that creates new soundscapes and transforms the Hammond organ into a forward-thinking instrument. The documentary ‘My Dream Machine’ made about the creation of his instrument not only positions Carlo as a master of his craft but also as a pioneer.
His most recent project is Sonic Dimension, with hybrid drummer Jordi Geuens and visual artist Job van Nuenen, explores the intersections of (live) music, visual art, and technology, building on the foundations laid by the New Hammond Sound Project (NHSP) since 2016.
With the launch of Sonic Dimension Records, Carlo’s artistic expressions have found a platform. The label releases not just music and visuals but also sounds, publications, lectures, and masterclasses. The debut album, Sonic Dimension One, released in both stereo and Dolby ATMOS sound, marks the beginning of the label.
Carlo’s extensive practical experience, combined with his innovative spirit, makes him a highly regarded teacher, mentor and speaker. His masterclasses, lectures, and collaborations with creativity coach Rody Vonk inspire both individual creatives and teams to renew and innovate their working environments.
