Hi,

Back after a sabbatical in 2025. The coming months are dedicated to new encounters and renewed collaborations.

Two concerts I am particularly looking forward to: a musical dialogue with two classical organists in unique surroundings.

20 March – Organs & Dreams at the Bach Festival Lochem

A meeting with Els Dijkerman, organist of St. Gudula Church, on the remarkable 18th-century Gilman organ. In a specially curated programme featuring Dream Machine, Time Machine & Sonic Machine, we merge Bach with my own compositions. Visual artist Job van Nuenen adds a real-time visual layer: organic, improvising imagery that responds directly to the musical process.

13 March – From Hammond to Dream Machine at the Oude Kerk Charlois, Rotterdam

With organist Jaap van Gils, a similar exploration, yet from a different acoustic and personal idiom. Classical influences, improvisations and original compositions, once again visually enhanced by Job van Nuenen.

The Modular Hammond concept continues to evolve, in dialogue with other artists and spaces, as an autonomous form.

11 April – Hammond Festival (Dizzy, Rotterdam)

14 May – Jazzy Huiskamers (Den Bosch)

With Jordi Geuens, my drummer companion of recent years, we return with a duo concert: Sonic Dimension in its purest form. The essence of how our musical journey began: interaction and the ongoing search for musical tension through improvisation.

New project in Italy – Trio Middelhoff – Minetto – De Wijs

Not yet in the Netherlands, but already active in my second home country, Italy. With tenor saxophonist Barend Middelhoff, whom I have known since the 1990s, and Turin-based drummer Alessandro Minetto. In the early 2000s, Barend and I formed a trio with the legendary John Engels.

The music is a tribute to the French organist Eddy Louiss (1941–2015), whose playing, rhythmic language and compositional qualities continue to inspire me, and who, as a European exponent of the Hammond organ, deserves wider recognition. Music by Louiss, Barend and myself; here an impression. Our debut will take place at the renowned Emilia Romagna Festival in early July.
